First Meet:

Chilean will shake hands when they meet each other in a formal situation, but they will only kiss each other on the check when they are closed friends. When the Chilean first meet, they will hand over their business cards after the business meeting.   

Clothing:

Most people wear shirts and ties when they are at work in the office. Some companies have casual Friday that allow employees to wear more related clothing.   

Business Meeting and Dinner:

In Chilean, it is okay to be late for 5 to 10 minutes for a meeting. At a business dinner, the host will pay for the meal. Normally, the Chilean will have something to drink before dinner. During dinner, people will chat about anything but family issues. Also they will only talk briefly at dinner. Before ordering the food, most people will wait for the highest position person to choose. If he/she orders an expensive meal then the rest can do the same. On the other hand, if the highest position person orders a cheap food, then everyone has to do likewise. After dinner, people will usually have a cup of coffee or tea. Lunchtime is from 12:00PM to 2:00PM the dinner is from 7:30PM to 8:30PM.   

Attitude Toward Life:

Chileans care about what others say about them. They care about their impression and always worry about what people think and say. Also, family is an important part of their lives and they care about them a lot.
